Hi there!

I’m D.J. Trischler, and this is Process Out Loud, the monthly newsletter of Trischler Design Co. Each month I send an update about a recent project and a few things I find fascinating in connection to living the creative process. You likely signed up on my website or were added because we collaborated on a project. If you’d like to unsubscribe, click the link in the footer.

School Board School

An area that I find myself working in often is helping people who are bettering the education system. As a teacher and student, it’s rewarding to do work that enables more excellent learning at all levels. One such project is School Board School. Their mission is to prepare citizens to serve as effective school board members and education advocates.

The work with School Board School began when I was matched with Elisa Hoffman (School Board School’s founder) during a launch-day event at People’s Liberty in early 2018. Together, we designed the identity, wrote some messaging, and built a tiny Squarespace website, all within an eight-hour window. Elisa has been using the tool kit we created for two years, so it was time to revisit the website, especially in light of their 2020 programming moving online..

With the site now updated, School Board School is prepared for the launch of their 2020 class application today (May 1st, 2020). If you any inclination toward leadership within the school system (or any civic arena), visit the site and sign up for an information session. I assure you that it will be worth every second of your time. Elisa and her team are an incredible crew and will do everything they can to make sure you are Ready to Serve.

Living the Creative Process

I've benefited from spending time reflecting on the following thoughts and matter, and I think you will too:

20 Questions To Ask Your Parents/Grandparents
There are a million and one great questions out there on the internet. Here’s an organized list to help you kick-off conversations with your elders.

How To Be A Resilient Designer (Human)
Equipped with purpose. That's how to be a resilient designer.

Habit Forming
Don't take on too much at once. Work on one good question at a time.

Designers On Zoom Having Coffee
What will a group of designers (people) meeting 100 years from now, think about the origin stories that are the result of our current crisis?

Capstone Update
The students are finished! Cara’s video was featured on Swissmiss’ blog, Annemarie’s enneagram website won Directors’ Choice for interactive design, and all of the other student projects are worth attention as well. I’m a very proud teacher.

Summer Projects

I’m looking for individuals, businesses, or organizations to partner with on projects this summer. Can you share the name and contact (and website, if they have one) of someone whose work you find inspiring and compelling?
